Eri Takes Center Stage in My Hero Academia’s Heartfelt New Anime Special
--
FOLIO OTN – The world of My Hero Academia receives another emotional addition with I Am a Hero Too, a short anime centered on Eri. Rather than returning to the large-scale battles that defined the main series, the special offers a more personal story about Eri’s growth, her aspirations, and the people who helped her discover a new future. The project is part of the franchise’s 10th-anniversary celebrations.
The story is adapted from a special one-shot included in the official Ultra Age fanbook created by series author Kohei Horikoshi. The original manga material focuses on Eri after the conclusion of the main conflict, allowing fans to see what her life looks like once the major battles involving Izuku Midoriya and the other heroes have ended.
In this new chapter of her life, Eri has grown into a high school student and begins pursuing music. Her journey represents a significant change from the frightened child audiences first encountered in the series. After everything she experienced in the past, she is now able to look toward a future built around her own interests and ambitions.

Music becomes particularly important to the special. Eri prepares for a performance while remembering the people who influenced her life. Among those figures are Izuku Midoriya and Mirio Togata, whose actions played a crucial role in rescuing her from the control of Overhaul. Their kindness helped Eri understand that she could have a life beyond the suffering she had previously endured.
One of the most touching elements is Eri’s connection to the song “Hero too.” The track originally appeared during the U.A. School Festival, where Kyoka Jiro performed it. For the new special, Eri receives her own version, giving the song a different emotional meaning as she performs it later in life.
The new rendition, titled “Hero too -10th Anniversary version-,” features vocals by singer Myka Morton as Eri. The song was released through major music-streaming services following the special’s premiere, allowing fans to experience Eri’s musical moment beyond the anime itself.
