Ready to Return! Two New Anime Projects Are Met with Enthusiasm, 2027 Will Be a Great Year for Haikyu!!

FOLIO OTN – Although the Haikyu!! manga has already reached its conclusion, the anime franchise still has plenty of court action waiting to be animated. Two new projects have now been announced for 2027: the theatrical feature Haikyu!! VS The Little Giant and a television special titled Haikyu!! Where Monsters Go.

The announcements arrive after the success of Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, which continued the anime's story on the big screen. The new projects will adapt two major confrontations from the Spring High National Tournament, giving fans the opportunity to see more of the manga's most memorable matches in animated form.

Haikyu!! VS The Little Giant Brings Hinata's Biggest Challenge to the Big Screen

The upcoming movie will continue directly from The Dumpster Battle. Karasuno High advances deeper into the national tournament and eventually meets Kamomedai High, setting up a confrontation between two remarkably talented volleyball teams. The project is scheduled for 2027, although an exact theatrical release date has not yet been announced.

One of the movie's biggest attractions is the rivalry between Shoyo Hinata and Korai Hoshiumi. Hoshiumi carries the nickname "Little Giant," a title that has special meaning for Hinata because of the player who originally inspired his volleyball ambitions. Their similarities make the matchup particularly significant, turning the game into more than an ordinary tournament battle.

Susumu Mitsunaka will once again take charge of the movie as director and screenwriter, while Production I.G returns as the animation studio. Their continued involvement gives the film a direct creative connection to the previous theatrical installment and the television anime.

Another Major Match Gets Its Own Anime Special

The second project takes the spotlight away from Karasuno and focuses on another high-profile Spring High encounter. Haikyu!! Where Monsters Go will adapt the match between Fukurodani Academy and Mujinazaka High, two teams led by some of the tournament's most formidable players.
