Drama Korea 'The Scandal'
Netflix has announced that its latest Korean drama, titled "The Scandal," will premiere on September 18, 2026. The drama stars renowned actors such as Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana, and tells a compelling story set against the backdrop of the Joseon era.
"The Scandal" is an adaptation of the classic novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos titled "Dangerous Liaisons." In this drama, the story centers on a dangerous wager involving three characters with conflicting desires. Son Ye Jin plays Lady Cho, a talented woman weighed down by society’s expectations of women in her era. She proposes a provocative romantic wager to Cho Won—played by Ji Chang Wook—a notorious seducer in the Joseon era.
Nana plays Hee Yeon, a woman who unwittingly becomes the subject of the bet. Director Jung Ji Woo stated that she wanted to make this adaptation more than just an ordinary love story. “I didn’t want this story to simply follow the structure of a melodrama,” Jung said. “I built the story around a protagonist who has a modern sense of self and asks, ‘Who am I?’”
