Haikyu!! Expands Its Final Chapter With a New Anime Special and Movie Teaser
--
FOLIO OTN – Fans of Haikyu!! have received more reasons to look forward to the franchise's concluding story. Alongside the highly anticipated second finale movie, the volleyball series is also preparing a special anime project that will explore another important match from the original manga. The announcement gives viewers additional material beyond the two-part cinematic finale.
The upcoming movie is titled Haikyu!! VS The Little Giant and is scheduled to premiere in Japan in 2027. A new teaser has offered a glimpse of the intense confrontation awaiting Karasuno High School as the team advances further into the Spring Nationals.
The film will focus on Karasuno's clash with Kamomedai High School, whose standout player Korai Hoshiumi carries the nickname "The Little Giant." His presence creates an intriguing parallel with Hinata, who was originally inspired to play volleyball after watching another short but extraordinary player associated with Karasuno.

The movie is being directed by Susumu Mitsunaka, who also worked on the first finale film. Production I.G remains responsible for the animation, continuing the visual identity that has defined the television series and its theatrical continuation.
Before this upcoming confrontation, viewers were treated to Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, which adapted the long-awaited match between Karasuno and Nekoma. Released in 2024, the movie became a major theatrical success and demonstrated that the franchise still has considerable appeal years after the television anime began.
The franchise has also announced a separate television anime special titled Haikyu!! The Place Where Monsters Go. Rather than following Karasuno's next major match, this project will spotlight the battle between Fukurodani Academy and Mujinazaka, giving another group of players the opportunity to take center stage.
