James Gunn Announces That Filming for ‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow’ Has Officially Wrapped

FOLIO OTONITY – Writer and director James Gunn has officially wrapped principal photography on the DC film *Superman: Man of Tomorrow*. He confirmed this production milestone on Threads, sharing behind-the-scenes photos and expressing his gratitude to the cast and crew.
As a direct sequel to *Superman*, set for release in 2025, this upcoming film once again features David Corenswet as the main hero. The story forces Superman to form an unexpected alliance with his arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor—played by Nicholas Hoult—to defeat the super-intelligent antagonist Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.
On Threads, Gunn wrote, “Principal photography for *Man of Tomorrow* has wrapped. It’s been a truly enjoyable experience, and I’m so grateful to my cast and crew.

The cast also features returning actors, including Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl.
Then there’s Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. Milly Alcock also returns as Kara Zor-El (Supergirl), while Aaron Pierre joins the cast as John Stewart ahead of his debut in the HBO Max series *Lanterns*.

Clark Kent works as an intern reporter at the *Daily Planet*. While living in Metropolis, he often uses his powers in secret (wearing a hood and a pilot’s mask) to help people. These mysterious rescue missions spark rumors about a “Flying Man,” who is later dubbed “Superman” by his fellow intern, Lois Lane.
While covering the launch of a LexCorp orbital telescope designed to search for extraterrestrial life, the launch rocket malfunctions. Clark is forced to fly and secretly guide the rocket safely into orbit. As a result of the budget cuts that led to the rocket incident, Lex Luthor was arrested and imprisoned thanks to Lois Lane’s investigation.
Clark’s presence in space triggered the detector of Lobo, a ruthless intergalactic bounty hunter. In that laboratory, an honest janitor named Rudy Jones found himself caught in the middle of the battle. When Lobo threw a special energy-sucking grenade to weaken Clark, the explosion struck an experimental alien waste tank. Rudy Jones was exposed to that combination of energy and mutated into a terrifying, energy-hungry monster named Parasite.
J’onn then took Clark to meet his adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent, in Smallville. There, J’onn revealed his past as the last survivor of the planet Mars and helped Clark understand his own origins as an alien from the planet Krypton.
