This morning, during the One Piece Day event in Japan, it was announced that Toei Animation is already working on two new films in the franchise. The first film, One Piece Film: God Valley, will be released in the summer of 2027, while the second film, titled One Piece Film: BaaD, will be released in 2029. All fans know that one of them will adapt the highly anticipated God Valley flashback arc, but... what about the other project?

A few minutes after the two films were released, thousands of fans began developing theories about the true meaning of the word “BaaD.” Some argued that it might be an acronym, while others believed the real clue lay in the letter “D” at the end. If you look at the film’s logo, you’ll notice that this letter is larger than the others, leading to the hypothesis that it could be a reference to the D clan.
Following confirmation that "One Piece" will get its first full-length canonical film, most fans are convinced that "One Piece Film: BaaD" will also be canonical, especially given its release date. What’s the point of announcing a movie now that won’t hit theaters for another three years? Well, some say it’s an indication that Eiichiro Oda, the series’ creator, plans to expand the story of the D clan and the Will of D with a movie that adapts a story which, by 2029, will already have been told in the manga.
