Considering how different Trunks’ future is from the one we’ve followed in the anime and manga, it’s truly surprising that there are still developments that are so closely linked between the two timelines. In particular, I was surprised by two potential developments that are very closely related:

- The Majin Buu Saga did indeed take place, but in a different way; in Trunks’ future, he trained with the Supreme Kai of the East. Buu wasn’t even resurrected, because Trunks defeated Babidi and Dabura before they could carry out their plan.
- The Zamasu Saga directly connects the two timelines once again. Trunks travels back in time to ask for help against Goku Black, and the intervention of Goku and his friends allows them to uncover Zamasu’s plan and prevent it from happening again in the main timeline.

In other words, no matter how much things change from one timeline to another, those events somehow end up getting closer together as time goes on. And that may reveal more about how Akira Toriyama built the "Dragon Ball" universe than meets the eye.
