Souldbound Online, a Gorgeous Bullet-hell MMO with a lot of Potential
--
FOLIO OTONITY – I’ll admit it: when I read its description on Steam, something just clicked for me. Soulbound Online brought together several very unique concepts.
On one hand, the general gameplay of an open-world MMORPG with a fantasy pixel-art aesthetic. On the other, a roguelite-style progression system with co-op for up to 3 players.
Although it seemed contradictory in some ways—since the idea of an MMORPG combined with co-op for up to three players struck me as odd—it really caught my attention.
Especially because of its graphics, which I found simply beautiful. And it is. The neon lights in certain cities, the desert landscapes in other settings…
The truth is that Soulbound is a very beautiful game with highly engaging gameplay that, on top of all this, draws heavily from the combat and movement mechanics of a bullet hell game.
It’s, to say the least, a pretty daring title when it comes to mixing ideas. It pulls it off quite well, as the gameplay is entertaining.
