UPDATE! The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 Changes Course With a New October Premiere

FOLIO OTN – Fans waiting for the return of The Detective Is Already Dead will have to extend their patience. The anime's second season has reportedly been pushed back, with its broadcast now scheduled to begin in October 2026 instead of its previously announced timeframe.
The continuation will once again center on Kimihiko Kimizuka, a young man whose life became deeply connected to the mysterious detective Siesta. Although Siesta is no longer alive, her influence continues to shape Kimihiko's journey and the unusual incidents surrounding him.
One of the major attractions of the second season is the return of the creative team behind the first installment. Manabu Kurihara is set to reprise his role as director, while animation production will again be handled by Studio ENGI. The series composition is being overseen by Deko Akao, known for her work on other anime projects including The Case Study of Vanitas.

The franchise is adapted from the light novel series written by Nigozyu and illustrated by Umibozu. Its blend of detective fiction, supernatural elements, action, and character drama has helped distinguish it from more conventional mystery anime.
For viewers who enjoyed the first season, the new broadcast window provides an opportunity to revisit the earlier episodes and become familiar with the characters and unresolved mysteries. The additional wait may also increase anticipation for how the story develops once the second season finally arrives.
