The Empire faction features Boris Todbringer, an Elector Count and loyal servant of the wolf god Ulric. His campaign centers on building fervor through victories on the battlefield, then channeling that fervor to construct wolf shrines.
He then upgrades his sanctuary and performs the Winter Rite, which grants a buff to his troops. He also wields a sword named Legbiter, which functions exactly as its name suggests.
Rounding out the quartet is Glottkin, the Befouled Brothers of Nurgle. Three brothers, one campaign: one wields a scythe, one carries a staff, and both ride on the shoulders of the third.
Their faction specializes in spreading corruption and transforming settlements into plague gardens, granting them access to a higher proportion of Daemonic Nurgle units than other Warriors of Chaos factions.
For strategy game fans keeping an eye on the broader direction of the Total War series, a more forward-looking announcement is Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000, which Creative Assembly says will challenge some of the series’ long-standing combat conventions.
Lords of the End Times launches on September 24, and if you want to learn about the new faction’s mechanics before then, the Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000 guide hub is worth bookmarking as coverage of the game continues to expand.
