Finally! World Trigger Officially Releases the Sequel to Volume 4, Fans Have Been Waiting for It

We’ve seen the basics a thousand times, but there are a couple of things in this manga that make it stand out. For starters, it’s a sci-fi story where the main protagonist is actually a nobody.

And I’m not talking about a Naruto who actually has a massive amount of mana or a Luffy with a Devil Fruit that seems weak but then turns out to have dozens of abilities.
No. Here, the protagonist is a weak guy from start to finish. Compared to everyone else, he has almost nothing. Here, power is measured in trions—something like chakra—and it can’t be increased. His is low. No, sorry: extremely low. Under normal circumstances, he isn’t even capable of defeating the most basic enemies.
His only weapon is that he’s versatile and intelligent. He knows how to keep a cool head and think carefully about which plan to carry out—but always with the caveat that his abilities are very limited. That alone means the way the manga is structured and evolves differs greatly from the shonen series we grew up with.
It may take some time for it to improve in that regard, though for now I’m happy with what the manga is offering us bit by bit.
There’s a constant sense that this is a story with a solid foundation and a strong start, but with even greater potential. So yes, I’m enjoying reading it, and I think it will continue to offer us a lot as time goes on.
